This research intends to understand the contribution of the Law of Quotas to reduce the level of social inequalities in Brazil. For this purpose, a quantitative methodology was adopted, through data collected from students of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology from 1.1 Triângulo Mineiro. The results indicate that the Law of Quotas is responsible for the inclusion of students who have conditions that potentially lead to social exclusion since they allow professional qualification and facilitate access to the labour market. Students that have benefited from the Quotas Law to have higher levels of school difficulty, although the level of school success is not substantially different. The benefits perceived by the course frequency are also different between the two groups of students although the expectations after the course are similar.
