Tourism has an important role in the delineated and implemented development proposals in order to try to solve the widespread crisis that affects most of the rural areas, mainly, those less favoured ones. However, to constitute an instrument of development of these territories, tourism needs to diversify, taking advantage of the potential of regions and their ability to generate tourism products. It is what it is sought with the celebration of cultural events that increase the attraction from a region and capture more tourists. Being recognized that usually these events are associated, in a first stage, to cultural, artistic or educational motivations, it is likewise important to know the implications that have its celebration at tourist level. The paper aims to evaluate the impact of the Festival of Music of Vilar de Mouros as tourist attraction, as well as to verify the way it is used to complement and to boost other tourist products.
