A inovação no Contexto da Gestão do Território, Desafios e Perspectivas

Abstract

The adoption of innovative tools of territorial management emerges more and more has a repeated imperative in the strategies and policies of regional and urban development. Despite some common notions accepted, the innovation in territorial management is still a relatively ambiguous and multipurpose process. The goal of the article is to realize an exploratory analysis of the concept of innovation in territorial management, creating some order in this conceptual chaos, clarifying and discussing the characteristics, the implications and the nature of the different senses attached to the concept. The paper also analyses the Portuguese context of territorial innovation, presenting some projects and policies focused on stimulate the territorial innovation. Several examples of territories and actions considered innovative are highlighted.
