This article analysis the financialisation of Portuguese households from socioeconomic and geographical viewpoints. It does so by presenting and discussing, in four parts, the results of the FESSUD Survey – Finance and WellBeing. First, it characterises the relations of Portuguese households with finance. Second, it examines the socioeconomic and geographical determinants of those relations. Third, it investigates the unequal access to finance. Fourth, it assesses households’ experience with financial institutions. The article reaffirms the importance of approaches that integrate in the analysis socioeconomic and geographical elements and advances a future research agenda on the relation of households with finance in Portugal.
