As Oportunidades Profissionais dos Imigrantes no Grande Porto

Abstract

This paper (which is based on the research project “Urban Planning for Immigrant Integration”)2 consists in the identification, in theoretical and practical terms, of the relation between the professional attainment levels and a set of professional, dwelling and neighbourhood variables of the foreigners that live in Great Porto Area. It presents the research methodology, the data treatment process, the econometric model development and the conclusions achieved, in order to allow the definition of a scale of professional success as a function of dwelling location, neighbourhood characteristics, urban morphology, different immigrant population groups, and respective employment and professional situation.
